Pretty stoked to win Applied Arts. Got home yesterday from a shoot in the US and the June issue was sitting on my desk. Couldn’t wait to give it a look. Thanks Applied Arts and congrats to all the other winners!

Skate Bike?

Just wrapped a shoot in Palm Springs last week and the shot list included a series about a girl skateboarding. Aimee, the superfantastic model, skater chick and one of the funnest people I’ve ever worked with, helpfully brought along her “skate bike” which we included in a few shots. I’ve never seen one before but, other than being exactly as described, it looked like something I would normally avoid trying out on a whim. I’ve got enough knee troubles already!

Portrait Workshop in support of the Ride to Conquer Cancer

For the second year in row, I’m doing a portrait workshop in support of the Ride to Conquer Cancer. I figure if my wife can ride a bike more than 200 kms over two days to raise money for this very worthy cause, the least I can do is host a day on the studio with some folks and show them some of the tricks of the trade. All proceeds go to the Ride and there will be a nice lunch, some models and glass of wine or two to be had.

Just finished up a multi week project shooting an image library for a gas utility on behalf of their ad agency Karo, there’s a huge amount of files from the shoot that I boiled down to about 500 to show the client. The job involved about 4500KM of driving and more drive through burgers than I’d like to admit.

Just got back from a couple of straight weeks on the road, shooting a bunch of different projects for different clients that got all strung together at once in a nice little package. Here’s a few I shot for a favourite client for their upcoming recruiting campaign. After two straight weeks of gorgeous fall sunshine, the one day I had to shoot this was pretty much rain, hard rain, driving rain or black skies and threatening rain. We changed the strategy a bit to accommodate the weather and I think they turned out great. Client sent me a nice note to let me know they loved them which is where the rubber really meets the road.
